Safety of Oils and Balms
External Use Only
Our oils and balms contain diluted Essential Oils and Plant Extracts, and are for external use only.
You should avoid contact with the eyes. This includes contact with ropes on which you have used our oils or balms. In case of contact with the eyes, rinse with water, and consult your doctor if irritation or other symptoms persist.
Do not consume any of the oils or balms. This includes using caution when placing ropes treated with our oils or balms into or near the mouth. In case of accidental ingestion, consult your doctor.
We do not recommend that you use any of our oils or balms as a genital lubricant or internally for any reason, as the added Essential Oils they contain may cause irritation to the delicate mucus membranes found in & on the body in this area. Use caution if using ropes on which you have used our oils or balms as crotch rope, or in the genital area.
If you choose to apply our products directly or indirectly the genital or perianal area, you do so entirely at your own risk. We accept no responsibility for any unwanted side-effects.
Should you experience any adverse reactions of any kind that you suspect are due to the use of our oils or balms, immediately cease using them. If symptoms are severe or if they persist, consult your doctor.
Medical Conditions & Pregnancy
If you have certain medical conditions such as Epilepsy, Diabetes, persistent Migraine, if you have high blood pressure or if you are Pregnant, you should avoid contact with certain Essential Oils. We advise that you seek professional advice prior to using our oils or balms if you suffer from these conditions or if you are Pregnant. We accept no responsibility for any unwanted side-effects.
Skin Reaction
We try to avoid using products known to produce skin or other allergic reactions and we test all products on ourselves prior to selling them. However, it is not possible to say that any one person will not encounter an allergic reaction of some sort to any particular product, and some people simply have sensitive skin which is more prone to react.
We advise that you perform a ‘patch-test’ before using any new product, by applying a small amount of the oil or balm to a small area of skin and waiting for at least 48 hours to see whether any adverse reaction occurs.
The ingredients for all products are listed on our website. If you know that you are allergic to any of the ingredients in a given product, you should not use it. If you are a known allergy sufferer then speak with a medical practitioner prior to use of any our oils.
Photosensitivity
Some Essential Oils are known to be sensitive to sunlight due to the fact that they contain an organic chemical compound called Furanocoumarin. This is a naturally-occurring chemical produced by a variety of plants especially citrus plants. When oils containing Furanocoumarin are applied to skin that is subsequently exposed to sunlight, they may react and can cause an inflammatory response which can mean that a rash or a burn develops. Usually this can be avoided by using oils at safe dilutions.
Because we dilute our Essential Oils, it is very unlikely that you will experience a photosensitive reaction of any kind. However, should you experience anything of this nature, you should cover the area with clothing that prevents sunlight from reaching the skin, stop using the product immediately, and seek medical advice.
Oils and Latex
Our products are made from natural oils which destroy latex. If you handle our oils and balms and then handle latex condoms, there is a high likelihood that the condom will fail. They may be safe to use with condoms or other barriers made from nitrile, polyisoprene or polyurethane but you should take steps to ensure that our products do not come into contact with condoms or other forms of barrier contraceptives, no matter what material they are made of. We accept no responsibility for the failure of your chosen contraceptive.
Effect on rope strength
Our rope oils are intended for use on natural fibre ropes only.
We have not tested whether our scented rope oils or our balms (i.e. those that contain Essential Oils) affect the strength of natural fibre ropes. This is because we don't recommend the use of natural ropes for suspension. It is not possible to provide a safe working load for hemp, jute, or other natural fibre ropes. You use natural fibre ropes, whether untreated or treated with our or any other oils, at your own risk. There is always the chance that a rope could break.
Testing
We test all our products on ourselves prior to release. No animal testing is performed on our products and we purchase our ingredients from companies that do not perform animal testing.
Storage
To keep your oils and balms in the best condition, you should keep them in a cool place away from sunlight, and replace any caps or tops immediately after use.
Keep out of the reach of children and animals.
Our products are freshly-made to order, with no added preservatives. To use our products to their best advantage, we recommend using them within 6 - 12 months from time of purchase.
